Hollow Road Kitchen and Remodel

This busy family’s kitchen is the command center for their home school operations. It also needed to meet more utilitarian demands for canning from the home garden and ample storage space to keep supplies for food preparation from scratch. This project posed some challenges. As a prefabricated building the demolition of some interior walls and columns required our crew to make corrections ensuring the integrity of the structure. The blend of materials–painted cabinetry, dark stone countertops, stainless appliances, brick herringbone flooring and saturated cool color in the adjacent renovation–gave the Rancher style home more of a modern farmhouse feel, which seems to fit a modern pioneer family. All cabinetry in this home was built by craftsmen Paul Harmon and Jason Airing.

We at Harmon Builders believe in:

  • using local mills with indigenous woods (oak, maple, hickory, cherry, walnut)
  • using recycled materials whenever possible
  • supporting local schools and community
  • educating clients in ‘green’ resources available
  • supplying local materials cultivated in our area and around the Mid-Atlantic.
