Project Overview:

This valued repeat customer entrusted us to create a custom kitchen for their daughter’s family, who play a crucial role in raising cattle on their farm. This kitchen features locally sourced maple wood species for the cabinetry, providing a warm, natural look that complements the farm’s rustic charm. The countertops are crafted from leathered honed black granite, offering a sleek, durable surface perfect for meal preparation, cooking and baking needs. A unique ‘sun tube’ brings natural sunlight into the heart of the kitchen, enhancing the space with a bright, airy feel. Additionally, under-cabinet task lighting and recessed ceiling lights ensure optimal illumination for all culinary activities.

Collaborative Design Process:

Our team worked closely with the homeowners to transform a former utility closet into a functional second kitchen within an old pool room enclosure that is now an in-law suite. We began with a set of blueprints, then thorough demolition of the existing space, carefully removing old fixtures to make way for the new design. Throughout the project, we collaborated with the homeowner’s ‘picture planning design album’ to ensure the kitchen’s layout and features met their specific needs for a lively young family and growing in the space.

Enhanced Functionality:

The new kitchen design improves the ease of meal prep, baking and cooking, making it an ideal space for the farm’s daily operations. The thoughtful placement of appliances and workspaces enhances the kitchen’s flow, allowing for efficient movement and use. This second kitchen not only serves the in-law suite but also supports the farm’s farm-to-table ethos, providing a dedicated space for preparing fresh, locally sourced meals.
