Beautiful Industrial Basement Retreat

Built in custom wall storage for books and decorThese homeowners wanted to move walls and create a multipurpose retreat for games, workouts, and lounging inspired by their love of classic films. The perfect space to relax alone or entertain guests, it is both beautiful and functional, with a modern industrial feel. In order to achieve the space planning needed we removed and replaced the walls in an existing basement to create a nook for exercise complete with a reinforced beam holding the heavy bag and beam trolley. The large mirror to monitor for safe exercise execution also enhances space and lighting.

This project also included a full bath renovation with a modern industrial chic look complete with a large rectangular sink and classic geometric small scale tiling on the floor. The gameroom space is delineated with attractive wrapped columns with milled carpentry work, with warm wood ceiling beams beams and a planked white ceiling over the pool table.

Floating shelves create an area for an art showcase. Floor to ceiling recessed wine racks are set into milled panel surrounds. The den nook features a custom built-in TV shelf, custom cabinetry around the fireplace with a honed granite surround, and a “wormy” oak mantel mimicking the ceiling beams and floating shelves, with shiplap above echoing the ceiling detail over the pool table. Mannington “Rigid” vinyl hard plank floors were used throughout, which are ideal for use over concrete. The end result is an amazing abundance of functional space that flows throughout.
