Master Carpenter & Craftsman Paul Harmon founded Harmon Builders, LLC in 1995, joined later by long-time friend and now Foreman Jason Airing, and Project Manager and Co-Owner Melani Harmon.

Originally from Frederick, Maryland, Paul was educated at Frederick Community College. He began working as a carpenter while still in high school, assisting area builders with additions, home building, framing, and constructing decks. Starting in a local cabinet shop in 1984, he refined his talent for custom built cabinetry for kitchens, shelving, and entertainment units. In 1985 Paul started competitive rock climbing as a career, which he continued through the mid-1990s. With skills from building, cabinetry, and climbing, he along with other members founded Clipper City Rock Gym in 1992. Paul designed, built, and managed the gym in Baltimore City, MD, while teaching rock climbing (climbing tours to New River Gorge, WV, and the like), competing personally, running tournaments, and training for international rock climbing competitions. Maintaining the facility honed Paul’s skills as a carpenter, keeping him current in the trade as he was constantly updating and outfitting the gym. When the gym was lost to a fire, Paul moved back to Frederick and combined his business experience, carpentry talent, and respect for nature into the founding of Harmon Builders in 1995. Paul has prior experience with LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Certified Construction practices, a Green Building Rating System™ that encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.
