We at Harmon Builders, hold a reservation for:  using local mills with indigenous woods (Oak, Maple, Hickory, Cherry, Walnut), use recycled materials whenever possible, support local schools and community, educate clients in 'green' resources available, supply local materials cultivated in our area and around the Mid-Atlantic.  This is our way of giving back to the environment, lessening our carbon footprint and optimizing our sustainability while also supporting the local economy.

About Paul, Master Craftsman...
Paul Harmon, General Contractor and Owner of Harmon Builders, LLC, is originally from Frederick Maryland and was educated at Frederick Community College.  In High School, Paul took many jobs as a Carpenter, assisting area builders with additions, home building, framing and building decks.  Paul also reveled in wood mechanics and landed a job at a local Frederick, Maryland cabinet shop in 1984, where he learned and mastered the Art of custom built cabinetry for kitchens, shelving and entertainment units.  Shortly after his High School graduation, Paul began a competitive rock climbing career in 1985 and continued through the mid-1990's. With skills from building, cabinetry and climbing, he later founded "Clipper City Rock Gym", in 1992, which he built, co-owned and managed in Baltimore City, MD. Paul designed and built the gym, taught rock climbing, competed personally, set tournament routes and trained for years in international rock climbing competitions.  Climbing was Paul's first love, a way to sustain excellent mental and physical health and he relished in using skills as a carpenter, always updating and outfitting the gym.  His future in climbing would take a turn when a terrible fire occured upon coming home from travels at which point, would be the demise of the rock gym.  However, turning tragedy into opportunity, Paul moved back to Frederick and started Harmon Builders in 1995.  With all the business, building and construction experience gained while employed at "Clipper City Rock Gym" and previous work as a cabinet maker, Paul brought these talents and trademarks to build his company, Harmon Builders, LLC.  Paul holds a Maryland Home Improvement License (MHIC No. 66247), is an approved Maryland Home Builder (MHBR No. 4452) and has a "Green Advantage" certification, an effort to improving environmental materials and building practices.

Paul received a, "Green Advantage" Environmental Certification in June 2008.  A GA certification allows for better knowledge about green building techniques and approaches in the building industry.  Additionally, he is studying to take the LEED exam in 2010 (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design), a Green Building Rating System™ that encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.

About Jason, Lead Carpenter...
Jason Airing is the lead carpenter and fellow craftsman for Harmon Builders, LLC who brings more than just building talents to the 'drawing board'.  A native of Union Bridge, Maryland, Jason carries over ten years of experience in fine homebuilding, iron artisanship, home improvements, custom cabinetry & furniture making to the Harmon Builders' portfolio.  Airing has recently taken a full-time position with the company and has previously worked as a subcontractor for Harmon Builders for 8 years prior to his employment. Jason continues to exude his leadership qualities, craftsmanship skills and building mechanics in the field.  He is a valuable employee who we greatly rely on for his loyalty, carpentry skills, communication with clientele and his impeccable work ethic!  When Jason is not working, he enjoys tinkering around in his cabinet shop at home and also spending time with his fiancee', Gina.

About Melani, Project Manager...
Melani Harmon, Business Manager and co-Owner of Harmon Builders, LLC, is from a small town in New England.  In childhood, Melani was always drawn to and inspired by her woodworking parents, who also owned a construction company.  Her folks designed & built custom furniture and constructed a log home, harvesting cedar trees from their own property.  She's always had a knack for building and interior/exterior designing, as inspired by her parent's pioneer lifestyle and their love for the craft.  With her experience and skills, Melani helps her clients during the planning phases of their projects, guiding them throughout their residential improvements and/or home building.  Melani came to Maryland in 1995 to continue her Nursing studies but then diverted the RN route when she began working for Harmon Builders.  She later completed her Liberal Arts Degree at Montgomery College, Rockville, MD.  Melani studies interior and exterior architecture/design with the ever-changing climate in the green building industry and manages their home office for the company in Keedysville, Maryland.

Paul, Melani & the Kids...
Paul and Melani moved from Frederick City to Washington County Maryland in hopes to better improve their quality of life as well as their children's.  As their business grew, it also warranted more sufficient space to continue running their home business for cabinet production, machinery storage and to sustain their home office.  The couple enjoys spending their time in the mountains hiking, biking and rock climbing with their two sons, Jesse (6) and Emerson (2).

For more than twenty-five years, Paul Harmon has built a reputation for fine custom building, custom cabinetry and remodeling that balances traditional, timeless craftsmanship with modern materials. Harmon Builders was founded in 1995 so that Paul could express his unique style, blending exterior details with updated interiors.

It is that we will, through quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, deliver a finished product that meets and exceeds the customer’s satisfaction and expectations.  Harmon Builders employs its own Craftsmen who give that extra attention to detail that makes our custom and remodeled homes distinctive.

We are proud of the hundreds of quality products in our portfolio, and of the professionalism that our customers have come to expect.

Custom cabinetry building can be a very complicated subject without having prior knowledge of the traditional cabinet building process.  On first glance you may think that a cabinet is just a box with doors and shelves, but, a quality cabinet in reality can be composed of hundreds of parts. Each part is hand-crafted with great attention to detail, from the first drawings to a finished product.  Custom cabinetry and fine woodwork make a home something to be proud of.
